Pizza Hut restaurant chain redesigns their brand by taking out the “pizza” and only leaves “The Hut”
(via idsgn, thanks to a tip from skylar challand)
On a side note: Does anyone remember the BOOK IT, the Pizza Hut reading promotion from back in the 80s? As children we loved an educational incentive to get some junk food—but in later years these kind of promotions gained more scrutiny. The program is still around, but we are partial to the original logo and button design for the BOOK IT program. And we get nostalgic when we remember the holographic one in particular. I loved that program as a kid. I’d get so many free pizzas for all the books I read. Sadly, I remember they started putting in a cap.
On a side note, it’s a bit sad that so many companies remake their logos to go with the modern times. A logo and its brand isn’t just conveying a personality; there’s also a sense of nostalgia. Getting personal pan pizzas on Fridays at lunch. Grabbing Jack in Box cookies n cream milkshakes after school. That’s all left out with the new brand. “The Hut” is just too cool for school now. I think Coca-Cola has it right.
